As an extension to our key areas of manufacture, Silicone Altimex also produces closed cell Silicone Sponge and Silicone Foam using a continuous extrusion process. Sponge has many advantages over solid Silicone Rubber as its extreme compressibility allows it to conform to the tightest of corners and still maintain sealing functionality.
Pressure sensitive self-adhesive can be applied to a specific face and flat strips can be slit to widths to suit the application. We can then further fabricate the sponge, to create specific sizes or punched and finished gaskets. Our process allows us to manufacture sponges with a range of densities, from 0.2g/cm³ to 0.8g/cm³. We can joint sponge to form rings for seals and gaskets or for any sealing application that requires a lower compression force.
Our grades of Silicone Sponge offer very low moisture absorption and excellent thermal stability from -50ºC to +200ºC.
